Dr. Rafika Merini, associate professor of French and Francophone literatures and cultures, is the author of Two Major Francophone Women Writers: Assia Djebar and Leila Sebbar, A Thematic Study of Their Work published by Peter Lang in 1999 and reprinted in paperback in 2001. Many of her publications are scholarly landmarks and that they continue to be cited in a wide-ranging cross-section of disciplines. She has presented at a variety of professional gatherings, from the local to the national level. Her efforts to promote Arabic language study were featured in a front page article on the teaching of non-traditional languages in the Buffalo News (March 2008).
